Fleetwood Sheds a Few Pounds With the Launch of Brand-New 2009 Backpack and Compass Ultralite Travel Trailers

RIVERSIDE, Calif., July 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Fleetwood Enterprises’ RV Group, a leading producer of recreational vehicles, today announced the launch of two new Ultralite travel trailer brands, the 2009 Backpack and Compass.
With a GVWR starting at less than 2,500 lbs, the brand-new Backpack and Compass Ultralite travel trailers feature six-sided aluminum construction with high-density block foam insulation. Laminated floor, sidewall and ceiling construction also help to reduce overall weight.
The 2009 Backpack and Compass offer spacious interiors with both seven-foot and eight-foot wide floor plans in 76″ and 78″ ceiling heights. The contemporary interior decors and striking exterior graphics add to the allure of these fun light-duty-compatible travel trailers.
“The rising cost of fuel has led to an increased need for RV manufacturers to produce lighter products that can be towed by smaller trucks and SUVs,” said Paul Eskritt, President of Fleetwood’s RV Group. “When we were in the planning and development stages for Backpack and Compass, we focused not only on reducing the overall weight of the trailers but on maintaining the amenities and style that our customers want. The positive feedback from our dealers and customers tells us that we are moving in the right direction, and continues to fuel our desire to further innovate within the Ultralite segment.”
Key features on the 2009 Backpack and Compass include under-cabinet-mounted four-speaker MP3-player-compatible AM/FM radio with CD player, hardwood cabinet doors, and a host of popular options such as exterior marine speakers, 19″ LCD TV with DVD player, and aluminum wheels.
The high-gloss laminated exterior walls on the 2009 Backpack and Compass are durable, sleek, and easy to maintain. Lower overall height, a lightweight steel-framed chassis, and an aerodynamic front wall all round out the features that make the 2009 Backpack and Compass easy-to-tow camping companions.
The 2009 Backpack and Compass models range in length from 16 - 24 feet, with MSRPs starting around $16,000.
